- gnutar will work even better. The beauty of this method is that
- you can read the tapes on Unix, Amiga, Mac, PC etc

- Under Unix you can compress using the flag "-z" or "-Z". This
- didn't work for me on AmigaOS (tried with various pipes) but should
- run fine on Unix.

- My Amiga tape handler prompts for a second tape when reaching the
- end. Have you actually tried it ?
- And if not, it shouldn't be too complicated to create a "du" listing
- of all your files, then split the list whenever your tape size is
- reached, then strip the du info.

- this right now #-) Nice task...]
